Garett Miles

Furniture Craftsman

Why did you choose a career in craftsmanship?

My dad was an aircraft mechanic by profession and was constantly fixing, maintaining, or making something at home. I was always fascinated and inspired watching him work with his hands. I became his little shadow from a very young age, taking a particular interest in woodworking. I haven’t really stopped since.

What is the best design advice you’ve been given?

Don’t let the fear of making a mistake stop you from trying.

What is your favorite part of the process?

I feel lucky to have a job that I enjoy so much. I am most rewarded, and happiest when I am standing at my workbench. Whether repairing something or creating an original piece; it is definitely my home base.
